Materials Disclosure Requirements

To ensure compliance with international and customer requirements that prohibit or restrict the use of specific substances in products manufactured and/or sold by Cummins Inc. As such, Cummins requires its suppliers to comply with the CES 10903 standard which requires the disclosure of all substances present in materials and components where the substance is present at or above the defined threshold value (weight percentages) in any homogenous layer or feature of the material

All materials and items shall conform to the restrictions on the content of declarable list substances.

A declarable list substance is a substance that is restricted and/or prohibited by one or more regulations that may be applied and/or region-specific. The supplier shall obtain written approval from Cummins for the authorized use of declarable substances prior to the source release of preproduction items and prior to the PPAP of new/revised items.

The approved certificate from CMI (Material Compliance) is REQUIRED at the time of PPAP, approval of PPAP may be delayed.


 

Materials Disclosure Guide

FMD can be submitted using CDX, BOMCheck, the Anthesis template, or IMDS (for automotive applications only). Please refer presentation describing the materials compliance requirements of Cummins suppliers in the related links section.

IMDS:

  • International Material Data System (IMDS) is used for parts that are used in On-highway applications for automotive customers.
  • You can reach the IMDS registration page via the Login Button in the IMDS Homepage  Click Register your company in the Registration section.
  • Supplier MUST use 6-digit SIM code while submitting MDS to Cummins IMDS ID 3664
  • Cost: Free for suppliers to collect and report FMD data

CDX:

  • CDX is used for parts that are used in Off-highway applications for non-automotive customers.
  • You can reach the CDX registration page via the CDX Login Button in the CDX Homepage. Click Register your company in the Registration section.
  • Supplier MUST use 6-digit SIM code while submitting MDS to Cummins CDX ID 13170
  • Cost: Free for suppliers to report FMD data to Cummins. Supplier will need to pay licenses if they want to collect data from sub-tier suppliers

BOMcheck:

  • BOMcheck is used for non-automotive products supply chain
  • Supports FMD (Class D) and Substance level disclosure (Class C)
  • Cost: Free for suppliers with turnover < 3M Euro otherwise, 300 Euro per year. If you choose to submit data via BOMCheck and your revenue is less than 3M Euro, please provide your information to [email protected] to help you set up your free account.

Furthermore, suppliers may also be asked to provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Suppliers shall provide a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) that includes disclosure of the product's chemical and physical properties in a level of detail necessary to effectively protect our employees and the environment, as well as to support our efforts to comply with all applicable regulations and customer requirements
